Norton says U.S. needs proceeds from land sales
WASHINGTON -- Staggering recovery costs from the two Gulf hurricanes shows a need for the government to gain access to profits from Southern Nevada federal land sales, Interior Secretary Gale Norton said Friday.

Norton said a White House plan to steer at least $700 million annually from land auctions under the Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act would help cover expenses from Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita expected to total billions of dollars.

The proposal has not made headway in Congress in part because of aggressive opposition from Nevada lawmakers. But Norton's remarks indicate the Bush administration has not abandoned the idea.

No doubt cronies connected to Bush will buy the land and Halliburton and Booz Allen will be the end recipients of the money.

Duh!
BTY aren't corperations 'persons' under the law? Tax their income just like real people. Outlaw Off Shoring also.

6. If you need land, get Bush's Crawford property, anything owned
by a Halliburton employee, Rove's, you name it and sell it to pay restitution to the rest of us.
