Help! I heard a quote on NPR and I can't find it online! |
|
On NPR this morning, Mr K says he heard "a female New Hampshire legislator" say something about how security is more important than jobs and health care, because if you're blown up, who needs a job? It was a story about "security moms," the voter bloc du jour. He thinks it was someone in a leadership position, which makes me wonder if it was Francoeur, but I can't find anything on google. Anyone in NH know where I should look? Thanks.

<a href="http://www.npr.org/rundowns/rundown.php?prgDate=27-Sep-2004&prgId=3">Morning Edition</a> It is Bush,Kerry Plead for Women's Vote.
I'm at work and can't listen to it to get the name for you, unfortunately.

2. That would be Donna Sytek |
|
Donna Sytek, former Speaker of the House in New Hampshire, "It doesn't matter if you have healthcare if you aren't going to be safe in your home. Minimum wage doesn't matter if you don't have a job to go to because, you know, terrorists have blown up the building."
Unsurprisingly, a conservative Republican. Most likely just repeating the Rovian meme, trying to instantiate fear in women voters. It's their version of Cheney's "if you vote for John Kerry, something bad will happen."

Is there a link for that anywhere? That's exactly the quote I wanted.

I transcribed that from the Morning Edition clip.
Morning Edition may have a transcript later on but I don't think they do that.
It's prefectly acceptable to quote people like this...
On NPR's Sept. 27, 2004 Morning Edition, so and so said...

I googled her name before and found she also wrote a book called Further Ado on protocol in New Hampshire State government. http://webpages.charter.net/hobblebush/pages/furtherado.htmlHere's her picture from that page.
