What if Corzine appoints a lesser known Dem, and Codey runs if Frank |
|
retires from the Senate again?
I think Mr. Codey, given his fine performance as acting Governor, runs in any statewide election for Senator is almost a shoo-in to win.
I keep no secret that I would love to have my congressman Rush Holt in the Senate, conceding that we have many fine Dem congressmen who also would serve us almost as well in the Senate. I wonder if Corzine might be wiser to appoint someone lesser known to the immediate opening, in favor of giving Mr. Codey an open shot if - and only if - it is known that Frank Lautenberg will retire again.
Just thinking...

I don't know if it will happen, but it sounds good.

2. Has Codey shown any interest in becoming Senator? |
|
I haven't heard anything about that, except that he would be expected to turn it down in favor of remaining a power within the state.

3. I don't know, and I'm sure he's not discussing it publicly. |

He's a modest man, but not so modest that he stayed out of politics or declined to lead New Jersey's Senate.
He's made himself a very well respected figure and did so with performance..
He may be a politician without further ambition, but if so, that would be a rare thing. Politics and ambition are usually synonymous.
