NYT endorsed Menendez today

They slam Kean - referring to 2nd and 3rd generation politicians trying to win on family name and say he doesn't have a good grapse of the issues. They say Menendez is a competent legislator who represents NJ well, although they ackowledge ethical lapses - though they point out Kean has his own.

2. True - I would have been stunned if they endorsed Kean

So, Menendez has the bigger endorsements - The NYT, the Pliladelpia Inquirer, the Bergen Record, and the Star Ledger. My town's little weekly local paper - the Randolph Reporter endorsed Menendez.

3. Asbury Park Press endorsed Kean - no surprise

The paper had previously endorsed Bush and Forrester, so I wasn't shocked to see they endorsed Kean. What annoys me is that the editorial implies that because Menendez has a liberal voting record, he should be dumped in favor of Kean. Shows you who's running this paper (though I was glad to see they endorsed Pallone and Holt for Congress).
