A Christie administration mistake about education spending has cost Nerw Jersey taxpayers $400 million in federal money and may cost 3,900 teachers their jobs. Christie blames the Obama administration for not allowing him to fix the clerical error.

New Jersey was left behind in the Obama administration's Race To The Top program and lost a chance at the $400 million in results that were announced on Tuesday.

New Jersey finished three points behind Ohio in a complicated system that evaluates the state's need for the money.

But now there are reports New Jersey was docked five points for using the wrong data in a section that asks how much each state spends on education.

The Star-Ledger found the mistake on the form submitted by the Christie administration. The newspaper said the first version of the form was correctly submitted by the Corzine administration.

1. this enrages me
I've been following this story and am shocked that the Christie administration has responded that the Obama administration should have gone to the Internet to find the correct answer. This is the epitome of irresponsibility and incompetence.

2. And now there is videotape...
showing the feds asking Schundler and his group for the information, and then giving them even more time to get it, asking them again later and they still say "Nope...don't have it."

I'm sure Christie will still find some way to blame someone else for this.
