A group of bills are up for Assembly committee votes
A busy and varied group of bills are up for Assembly committee votes today, including several measures that are further efforts by the Democratic Legislatures to wrest the public agenda away from Gov. Chris Christie and set its own course.

Republicans in the Assembly, however, criticized today's workload as a series of misplaced priorities, arguing that the governor's heavily touted "toolkit" to help municipalities control runaway property tax increases is being ignored.

"New Jersey taxpayers will be disgusted to find out that the Assembly Democrats place a higher priority on creating commissions rather than tackling civil service, arbitration and pension reforms," said Assembly Minority Leader Alex DeCroce, R-Morris.

But Democrats scolded the governor for forcing them to revisit issues, such as the medical marijuana initiative and funding for women's health programs, because of careless rules and ill-conceived vetoes.
