Bush coming to Rochester!
http://www.wokr13.tv/news/local/story.aspx?content_id=B5838B3D-D5A8-4C2B-BDC1-F6A8C752BEA6

Location "unknown" at this point. Will post that as soon as I find out.

I was gonna garden all weekend long. Looks like I'll need to spend some time painting signs. Any suggestions for slogans with which to greet him?

1. Churches asking young people under 30
to go hear about private accounts? Um, WHY is a CHURCH involved with Social Security?????? So, now Bush has the churches campaigning for his private accounts?

When are people going to wake up to what this man is doing?

Be sure to take pictures & post them here.

Much the same as Abu Gharib, no pictures means it didn't happen....

5. Ick.
Although this snip is unintentionally funny:

"It's very exciting," said resident Russell Janneck, 56, who voted for Bush last year. "My goodness, the president is coming. Here's a guy that everyone wants a piece of , and he's decided to come here."

6. The Ass-hat will be appearing at Greece Athena HS ...
I plan to be there. In fact, I may pursue tickets to actually get in. My guess is Greece is going to be grid lock hell (more than normal) next Tuesday.

Word is that Repukes are trying to keep this quiet, since there is likely to be massive protests in this relatively Blue area.

We whould have an unofficial DU gathering while we are all there.

Cheers

8. I think I can make it
Seriously considering getting some of my belly dance buds to do a "Belly Dancers against Bush" thing, but it's awfully short notice.

Has the visit been confirmed then? Not seeing anything on the Monroe County GOP site.

10. Not confirmed ...
I think I read somewhere that Friday will be day that they announce his schedule for next week. If he comes, it will be at Greece Athena HS.

Hmmmm - Belly Dancers against Bush. I'd pay to see that.

Yer not a Juggler are you ? (or perhaps someone you know).
I met a very nice girl who came to at least one of our local Juggling Club meetings, and as I remember she was also a Belly Dancer / performer. Can't remember her name.

Cheers

White House confirms: Bush is coming

James Goodman
Staff writer

(May 20, 2005) — The White House has confirmed that President George Bush will be coming here Tuesday to discuss changes he wants to make in Social Security.

“The president will travel to the Rochester area May 24 to participate in a conversation on strengthening Social Security,” said White House spokesman Ken Lisaius.

No further details about the visit were available from the White House.

Meanwhile, Greece officials are preparing for the stop from Bush at Greece Athena High School, where he is expected to talk about his Social Security plan.

This year, Bush has traveled to about 25 states to push his controversial plan to overhaul Social Security. According to sources, this would be his first stop in New York state on the topic. In most visits, Bush has held town hall-style meetings.

Social Security has been Bush’s top domestic issue during his second term He wants to allow future retirees to divert some of their payroll taxes into personal retirement accounts.

U.S. Rep. Thomas Reynolds, R-Clarence, Erie County, is helping the White House coordinate the event.

Greece police are already planning security detail. Greece Police Chief Merritt Rahn and members of the U.S. Secret Service walked through the school yesterday.

Rahn said the president’s security would be a coordinated effort among the Secret Service, the FBI, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Greece Police and possibly Rochester police officers.

Federal and local officials also have met to discuss security at the Greater Rochester International Airport.
