The transit workers have come out of this as clean as a whistle. They didn't have to stay out weeks and weeks - three days was enough to show everybody that they have the clout to shut New York down. Roger Toussaint said this was about respect, and now they've got it. R-E-S-P-E-C-T.
The Republican establishment never knew what hit them. Bloomberg stood up spitting and stammering in his indignation, but it had no effect on the strikers. The New York Post, predictably an enemy of working people, called the strikers "rats." And the liberal New York Times opposed the strike. What did you expect? They also supported the war.
This is a turning point. If the MTA lashes out like a blind Cyclops, working people's victory will be even greater. Roger Toussaint is a great American.

1. Hopefully this will reinvigorate the union movement... |

Unions really needed this victory. Unions everywhere should take a stand because years of concessions by unions have really hurt ALL working people.
Withholding our labor is about the only weapon we have against greedy employers.
