Free to the Public

An afternoon of films reflecting Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) culture, presented by Kay Ionataiewas Olan. Films will include:

* Walking the Same Land: Aboriginal men from Australia share their culture and healing with young Mohawk men in upstate New York.
* Peacemaker's Journey: A dramatization of the story of the coming of the Peacemaker that led to the founding of the Iroquois League of Peace.
* Eagle Dance: A tribute to Iroquois Ironmakers.
* They Lied to You in School: Mohawk Elder Tehanetorens / Ray Fadden offers a lesson in the true history of this land

April 11th
Saratoga Arts Center, Dee Sarno Theater
Shows at 1 PM, 4 PM and 7 PM
Admission Fee: $6

* Before Tomorrow: Directed by Marie-Helene Cousineau. A remarkable debut feature that tells the story of two Inuit elders stranded on a remote island in the mid 19th century. Winner of the Best Feature Prize at the Toronto International Film Festival. (4 PM)
* Tkaronto: Métis director Shane Belcourt's debut feature is about what it means to experience a profound sense of loss. Loss is in the title: the original, long gone Mohawk word for Toronto. It continues in the central stories of two urban natives whose sense of loss is both real and metaphysical. ( 1 PM & 7 PM )

1. K&R. Thanks so much for this great information!
Sounds very worthwhile. BTW, I grew up in Saratoga and used to spend a lot of time at the library. My brother and I always belonged to their summer book club. I have yet to visit the "new" library, and this sounds like a terrific excuse. :hi:
