that fit the bill. Looking to spring now when more homes should become available. If you see anything, let me know. mnhtnbb is keeping an eye out in Carrboro area for us.

33. The typical 3bed2bath, 1700-2000sf, $250-320,000 depending on condition. |
|
We prefer older homes, and are in a 30's craftsman right now.
Thanks bertman.

34. You're absolutely welcome. May I assume that Carrboro or Chapel Hill or close outlying |
|
areas are okay (judging from the Robin's Wood locale)? I'll post on here if I find anything that matches your description.
By older, are we talking about something before 1970 or 1940? That will narrow your options considerably.

35. heh, older to me was always early 1900s till we started looking in Chapel Hill. |
|
I noticed that there was no thriving middle class in Chapel Hill until the 60s and 70s and that limits the choices...very few craftsmen homes and those that do exist are nearly double the price of Charlotte where nice old craftsmen homes are plentiful.
Mr blm is now working at UNC, so any short drive in would be great, and, of course, we DO want to take advantage of Chapel Hill schools for little blm who is in the 3rd grade.

8. Cary--a surprisingly internationally diverse community, if you get past the mandatory extra "e" |
|
A friend of mine said Cary ought to levy an "e" tax for all of the extra town_e_'s and other faux anglo-saxon garbage.
But my kids go to school with Chinese, Pakistanis, Iranians, Indians, Russians, Japanese, Jordanians, East Africans, Vietnamese, and Koreans, among others. Maybe this is a trend in every metro area. As much as I miss Carrboro, I think it's a lot more homogenous, actually, than "my little town," where Pantea and Yuang walk to their respective neighborhood association-mandated matching faux iron/brass mailboxes as Greeshma and Rajeen stroll by after dinner in their traditional Indian attire. My favorite image I think was of an Islamic woman in her hajib standing underneath the faux "medieval" clock tower that was next to the Fresh Market as a Lexus drove by. Talk about the contradictions of the 21st century squeezed into one parking lot.

43. That's where I was raised... almost Leicester, actually |
|
but I live in Yanceyville now, just NE of Greensboro. It's like Leicester used to be. My grandfolks are buried at New Found. That used to be very, very remote and "out there". I went to visit their graves last year and was shocked to see all the McMansions. There used to be nothing but cow pastures there not very long ago.
