Is there a worst radio station in NC than WBT? |
|
This morning Pat Mc Crory is filling in for Keith Larson and he is hosting a radio town hall leading up to the afternoon broadcast of the fat pill popping idiot.
The lies and right wing talking points are flying furiously this morning. There is no debate on the issues. He has industry people calling in and he is praising them as experts that know what they are talking about.
Tort reform, mandates, blah blah blah
I hate right wing radio station like WBT

2. NC radio hasn't got many highlights... |
|
The public stations like WUNC, WFDD and WFAE are all well and good but: it's mostly network fare, with some local inserts in Morning Edition and All Things Considered. There are some local shows...
The AM dial in NC is an absolute wasteland. WBT does have an FM repeater but it works and operates just like any AM station.
With WSJS and WPTF you're truly better off being a blonde trying to work the radio - remember you can't listen to AM radio in the PM.
There are some liberal voices on the radio airwaves... WCHL in Chapel Hill, and WPEK in Asheville are your liberal talk stations - the Asheville station is a daytimer, but WCHL does have night time coverage. Otherwise that's about it.
As for BALANCED coverage, well not a lot of that going on, but WZTK is the best for the Piedmont Triad area (and most of the Triangle too) for balanced voices. Evening programming is Michael Savage followed by Alan Colmes and you can't get more diverse than that. IMO though Allan Handelman is that stations' best asset. Morning drive and afternoon drive are live/local which is pretty good in today's consolidated radio world. Just avoid 10am to 1pm and 7pm to 10pm on that station and you'd be OK. Plus weekends it's "smooth jazz", a format that typically doesn't do well but does have a cult following.

for hizzoner's next job. He won't be mayor anymore at the end of the year. Somebody has to replace the $23,000/yr the city pays. And he had a weekend radio show previously. If I'm Tara Servatius, I would be worried about job security.
BTW, WBT did have balance at one time, remember Mike Collins (now at WFAE), Henry Boggan (deceased, non-political show), and Jerry Klein.

4. I dunno...it's all religious stations since I moved here. |

I guess I didn't live here when I could follow a morning group...it's all religion or Sports or RW as far as I've listened...

The only reason I still have WBT on my presets is to listen to the Panther's games when I'm on the road. Odd thing though, most of the time when that happens I'm on my way home from the mountains and the station doesn't come in until I'm almost home. I swear the signal used to reach all the way to the hinterlands.
not that anyone is missing anything
