Some significant dates are:

8/22: First day to request absentee ballot for City of Raleigh, Town of Cary and Board of Education. Election is October 11.

9/16: Last day to register to vote or change your registration for City of Raleigh, Town of Cary and Board of Education

9/19: First day to request absentee ballot for Wake County Municipal
Elections other than Raleigh and Cary. Election is November 8th. (Runoff elections for Raleigh, Cary and School board if needed)

10/14: Last day to register to vote or change your registration for
Municipal elections

Lobby Day to End the War in Iraq - Sept 26

As part of Three Days of Action for Peace and Justice in Washington, DC the weekend of 9/24, activists will lobby congressional representatives. A strong NC contingent is being organized to join together in solidarity to lobby our elected officials for peace on Monday the 26th of September. Brightleaf Square, Gregson & Main, Durham. Cindy Sheehan, mother of Army Specialist Casey Sheehan who was killed in Iraq, continues her vigil outside President Bush's ranch in Crawford, Texas. She was recently joined by more moms who lost a child in Iraq and other military families. Meanwhile President Bush continues his five-week vacation and pledged Thursday to keep U.S. troops in Iraq-meaning more moms will lose a child. Our vigils will be simple and dignified. Together, we'll acknowledge the sacrifices made by Cindy Sheehan, her son, Casey and the more than 1,800 brave American men and women who have given their lives in Iraq-and their moms and families. SAT 8/20. The 2005 AIDSWALK and RIDE. Will set off from Raleigh's Old City Market at Moore Square Park. We will go the distance with a one mile and a three mile walk route and bike routes of 30-mile, 60-mile, or 101.5 miles. The WALK route will pass the Old State Capitol and the North Carolina General Assembly and return to City
Market. The RIDE route will go thru Wake, Durham, and Orange Counties
