This is for Cuyahoga County only:

You can check to see if you're registered in Ohio at this site.
http://boe.cuyahogacounty.us/VoterSearch/VoterSearch.asp

You can also call them to confirm that the information is up to date at: 216.443.3200

For questions regarding the voter purge can be made to the Voter Info Center at: 216.781.8376

I will be calling the voting info center along with my local news stations.

3. go to the BOE and vote provisionally right now
Provisionals are counted if they are found to be valid.

Dont wait for election day and loose the chance to have your vote counted.

Go to BOE, fill out the absentee form (need a drivers license or current utility bill
or a state ID with a pic) and vote provisionally right away.

Could someone please verify this info and point SunWyn to a link, please ?

6. My advice don't vote provisional ballot
They will most likely be thrown out anyway if you don't get your registration straightened out. Go down with every piece of documentation that could prove who you are and where you live and get it straightened out. Here in PA changes or corrections to registration take 10 days to take effect. Do it now and advise everyone you know to do the same.

11. Do not vote provisionally if you can help it
in 2004, the bulk of the provisional ballots in Ohio were NOT counted. Get to the BOE, demand they provide you with the reason you and your family were purged, bring documentation, make them show you your previous voting history, and then demand to vote AT YOUR BOE RIGHT THEN...on a machine, or have them give you an ABSENTEE BALLOT. Fill it out, follow the instructions to a T, and hand it over.

5. Do we need to be contacting local press, etc?
I was out of the office this morning. And I'm a bit preoccupied right now, but this is shocking, even though I guess it shouldn't be. Do we contact legislators to demand that the registration deadline be extended? What do we need to do besides cover our own ability to vote? Is there a pattern to who is being purged, like I's who haven't voted in a primary recently and who also automatically lose their Party affiliation?

7. Strickland and the state party have been notified
but spread the word however you can. With over a million people at risk, this could hae serious impact.

8. Dewine V Brown could go the other way ...
If this is not resolved.

It is like choice point purging voter rolls in Florida in 2000.

Let me guess, Ken Blackwell and Michael Wu (or is it Vu) are at it again.

9. Hmm...
How do I find out if I've been purged, if I don't live in Cuyahoga County? I just moved (within Ohio), but changed my registration over. They just sent a notification telling me where to vote. So, I should be alright, right? How can they get away with this?? I'm hoping it's some sort of hoax.

16. This is the other thing that just drives me crazy
If Blackwell had any self-respect as the f'ng Secretary of State, he would make sure this capability was available at Boards of Election statewide. It's not operational at Wayne County's idiotic site either.

17. The Lorain County link directs you to the Secretary of State and GUESS
WHAT? My registration doesn't show up. I vote consistently; my oldest was late in 2nd grade on Election Day because I took him to vote with me so he understood the process.

ACTION ALERT: Blackwell purged Ohio Voter Rolls Oct 1st.- Vote Early.

Over 600 comments over there now.

This is WORSE than Choicepoint!!!

Sending out incorrect ballots, extremely stringent voter ID, now THIS?

What is this? A BANANA REPUBLIC????

Why hasn't the voter ID requirement been challenged in court already? It was overturned in Missouri and Georgia already!!!

I'm mad as hell and I'm not gonna take it anymore!

Hamilton (when you put in your street name, do not add words such as Street, Ave, etc, just the name of your street...i.e. Hopkins): http://www.hamilton-co.org/boe/votersearchs.asp

20. CHECK YOU VOTER REGISTRATION
Call your local voter registration office. If your in Ohio you are going to want to do this Blackwell is purging the voting list.

It should be in the phone book. Don't know if they'll send you a new voter card, but at least you'll know that all is in order. Or, you can call your local representative and they'll direct you to the proper department.

or
Most places you can check online.
Go to your County Secretary of State Office Web site or the equivalent where you live.

In ohio you can check on line at
http://www.sos.state.oh.us/
It is worth checking before the election

Thanks Kukesa for the Montgomery County link. They had the address wrong for my family. It has been corrected. That is three more votes for the Democrats. :)
