Who is paying Kasich to destroy what's left of Ohio?
It's unusual for a politician to act against both his own political interests and his constituents best interests. Even Kasich knows that he doesn't have a shot nationally if he can't carry the important swing state of Ohio. It's also clear that the boob has no interest in reelection, so the only choice left is that he is playing a long game that will pay off for him personally.

How well will he do? Who has promised him what?

1. Well, he just privatized the state liquor business
through a shell organization that he created.

2. Fox News has a swinging door.
After his tenure, he'll be welcomed back as a political war hero with a combat pay increase.
If Ohio is still on the map by that time, he can tell viewers of the brave fight and how "he tried".
