Peace March in Tulsa Saturday, March 19th
March for Peace In March

Saturday, March 19th 12:45 pm

45th and Peoria, Tulsa (Brookside District)

This will be a solemn march for peace on the second anniversary of the
attack on Iraq. Bring small signs supporting our troops and calling
an end to the occupation. Try to wear black if you can as this will
be a procession following two flag draped caskets, one American and
one Iraqi, with the current death count. The march will proceed down
the sidewalk to 35th Street and return to the starting point down the
other side of the street.

*******************************************

Courage is Contagious!!

On a recent "Get Over It" tour by the leader of the "free" world
through Europe, tens of thousands of citizens turned out to remind Mr.
Bush what they think of him and his policies of destruction. In
Mainz, Germany 12,000 protesters, nearly a tenth of their population,
turned out even though the traffic into the area was restricted...no
cars allowed in and 100 train schedules cancelled. France and Belguim
also held huge protests. These people have seen the destruction of
war and tyranny up close in their recent history. Young and old alike
turned out in the cold by the thousands to stand up against the evil
that is being sold as American foreign policy.

Now the world looks to us to act, as they should since THIS IS OUR
PROBLEM TO SOLVE.
Everyone who takes to the street stands for
someone who cannot...a soldier who has lost his limbs or his life,
an Iraqi or Afghani citizen who has lost a mother, father, son, or
daughter in the reckless bombings, who is afraid to walk the streets
of their own city...all victims of the destructive policies of
OUR nation's leadership.

Please join us in showing them that even though we do not face the
life and death decisions they do on a daily basis, we are also not
afraid to stand up for them before our own community in an effort to
save their lives. Invite as many friends and family members as
possible to participate and help us with a strong show of solidarity
against the atrocities committed daily in our names.

1. Update
In this, the Season of Nonviolence, we ask that everyone honor the memories of M. Gandhi and Martin Luther King, Jr., and abide by the principles of nonviolence in presenting our message to our community.

Please read the very brief and very good advice regarding nonviolent protest at the link below:
http://community.michiana.org/justice/discipline.html

It is extremely important to our message that we abide by these principles. It's a little difficult to get a message of peace across if we are participating in angry, belligerent behaviour if confronted.

If you feel you will be unable to abide by the principles set forward in this message, please do not participate. We want this rally to be indicative of our mission...no violence or hateful behaviour in word or deed will be tolerated from anyone.

We can no longer afford to confuse peaceability with passivity. Authentic peace is no more passive than war. Like war, it calls for discipline and intelligence and strength of character, though it calls also for higher principles and aims. If we are serious about peace, then we must work for it as ardently, seriously, continuously, carefully, and bravely as we now prepare for war.
