OK Poll: Bush - 53%, Kerry - 33%, Undecided - 13%
Poll in today's Daily Oklahoman.

It's on the front page of today's paper, but I couldn't find it in their online site at: http://newsok.com

In the Senate race to replace Don Nickles:

Republican:
Tom Coburn - 21%
Kirk Humphreys - 21%
Bob Anthony - 11%
Linda Murphy - 5%
Undecided - 41%

Democrat:
Brad Carson - 45%
Carol Fisher - 7%
Monte Johnson - 3%
Undecided - 39%

Margin of error: +/- 5.7%

Theoretical matchip between:

Carson - 39%
Coburn - 41%
Undecided - 20%

Margin of error: +/- 4.4%

I'm glad the Republican race is so close, and I hope it remains that way. They need to beat each other up a bit.

1. This type of result may show....
why Bush still has the national numbers he has. here are probably many small 'red' states with this skewed result (and shows their stupidity). The real race is not in OK (thank God) and is MUCH more favorable to Kerry.

3. Possibly...

I have no illusion that Kerry has a snowball's chance in OK, but the results of this poll aren't as dramatic as I expected. (The addition of Clark or Edwards as VP would make it more interesting, however, and there are a lot of "straight ticket" voters in OK.) The number of undecided voters, in all the races, is quite high and reflective of some serious questioning taking place among OK voters. (Of course, no one except Carson has really been campaigning here until the last few weeks, so that's part of it too.)

The same poll showed OK voters are in favor of a state lottery. That wouldn't normally have much relevance to these races except that the lottery is tied to a severe financial crisis with the OK educational system that caused teachers to lose their jobs and class sizes to explode this last year. It's a heavily polarized issue, but one that strongly favors the Democrats. Our current Democratic governor pretty much ran on that issue alone. (And as far as anyone can tell, he hasn't done a damn thing but offer his support since, but I digress.)

IOW, things are a bit weird here in OK. I'm simply hoping that weirdness translates into us electing a Democratic Senator.
