I hope so. I'm hoping that his voting to open anwr does him in. Most Oregonians are very environmentally aware & were against it.

3. Yeah, I thought I was gonna hurl |
|
when Gordo said that drilling in ANWR was no longer the lightning rod it once was.
I think Smith carefully cultivates his image as a moderate, but he has voted with Bush and the Repug caucus overwhelmingly. It will be easy to tie him to the Bush admin. That said, Oregon is still quite purple and he will be very difficult to unseat.

5. Smith is a weasel! Only votes green when he knows there |
|
aren't enough votes to pass an issue. Need to get his vote out there and see how many times he voted environmental, pro labor, pro people when his vote could make a difference.

6. I'm guessing that would be zero votes for the things Oregonians care |

7. Depends. There are really too many variables to even guess right now. |
|
But whoever runs against him has their work cut out, no question.
El Gordo is charismatic and does a great job of portraying himself as a moderate to the television cameras.
It's not going to be enough to hang the lame duck resident around the junior senator's well-polished neck; the opposition has to hook the resident to the entire republican party and demonstrate in clear, short, memorable messages how El Gordo is part-and-parcel of the republican-caused problems we now face in Oregon and America.
That's a tall order, no question about it.

8. Somewhere I saw his voting record, which is roughly identical to Trent |
|
Lott's. We need to tie him to the most hated RW senators, which is reasonable, because he votes the same way they do.

9. I saw his voting record once, |
|
& he voted with the WH something like 95% of the time. I cannot remember where that site was. I've hunted & hunted.
They're been rumors that Kitzhaber is going to run for gov again. I wish we could get him to take on gordo puke puke, but I don't think he'll leave Oregon & his beloved Rogue River.
:sigh:
