Portland DU Meet-Up for January Anyone ? .... |
|
The first saturday in January would be January 7th .... that gives us PLENTY of time to make it happen ....
We have met at the Hawthorne Lucky Lab ... and we have met at the Old Market Brewery and Restaurant in Multnomah .... I would add the 'other' Lucky Lab in the Village as another possibility ...
Being a newcomer to Portland, I dont know of a lot of other places, so I would depend on YOU to introduce other options here .... It's a big town, right ? ....
Of course, The Hawthorne Lucky Lab would suit me just fine as well, since smokers can, well, smoke, and not get wet ....
So, how bout it ? ....
Some brews ? ... some song ? ... some laughing; some crying ? ...
Extreme merriment for all ? ....
WHO is game ? ...

5. Hi all and Happy New Year! |
|
Haven't seen y'all since September. Or was it October? If the get-together is on the east side and I can indulge my nasty tobacco habit I shall be there.
Best wishes to all.

I tend to get lost anytime I venture to the west side, but it sounds fun.

15. Another "resounding success!" |
|
Thanks to everyone!
I hope you all had as much fun as I did, the range of conversation was incredible, and I'm pretty sure we solved some of the major problems facing our country tonight; however the excellent brews have clouded my memory some.
I'm sure it will come back to me in the morning.
Hey JJ... I had the "dog theory" all straight in my head until I walked in the door tonight... how does it fit in when they start to attack, then roll over on their back for a tummy rub?

LOL. No kidding-
I'll hunt up that article on catastrophe theoryand scan it. PSU doesn't have that particular one online for some reason. You all will like it.

17. I hereby request an easier-to-access venue for the next meet-up |
|
I have been to some tricky parts of Portland in my day. I have to say, though, this one was pretty damn close to the top o' the list. I felt like one of those Miskatonic U alums in an H.P. Lovecraft story, traveling through a maddening astral dreamscape of freakish alien geometries, trying to get there and back. Probably would still be wandering lost in Beaverton today if Mr. Inkpen hadn't been leading the way... Whoever planned the streets around "Multnomah Village" is either an evil genius or a well-intentioned nincompoop.
Other than that, I had a great time. :P

I came from West Linn, up I-5 & it's a nightmare trying to get to Multnomah village if you're not familiar with the area...very hard to figure out The last meetup was further down Multnomah Blvd, so let's give that area a rest for a while. I'm OK with downtown, eastside or Beaverton.

by a few who couldn't make it in the evening...
I'm seriously leaning towards Lucky Lab in Hawthorne again, if we do it in the afternoon I can make it home on Trimet.
More suggestions please!

Former Mayor Bud Clark's place.
Literally right on a light rail stop. People can drive or park & ride at either Sunset Transit Center or somewhere downtown or in South East.
