Reminiscing the 1996 flood.. while the rain pours |
|
Yes it is flooding here in Jefferson County, and I am sure through much of the state. But nothing like 1996. This evenings news did a history segment of the 1996 great flood and there was that spectacular home video of a mudslide in the West Hills pushing down some residential streets.. often pushing a big uninhabited pickup ahead of it... trees upright and flowing with the mud like a river toward the amateur camera man. Do you guys remember that?
If so.. do you know where I can view that footage? That was incredible.. but my DH has never seen it and I would love to show him.

1. You might contact KGW TV in Portland. |

They produced a great video of the Flood of 1996, which I purchased to send to a friend but ended up keeping myself. Not sure where it is right now, since I moved a couple of years ago, but I'm thinking KGW may have it in their archives. Don't see it listed on their website but they have a link to contact them.
Where is it flooding in Jefferson County? I'm in Deschutes County, not near any rivers or streams so in no danger of floating away, but the wind and rain have reminded me of the time I lived on the beach many years ago.
Stay dry and good luck finding the video. It's pretty amazing footage!
