Just how far can/will Wyden go to stop the Alito confirmation? |

2. Give him a call and let him know what you want. |
|
It only took 2 minutes of hold time to talk to a staffer this morning.

to confirm Allito. I agree that he has to go. I loathe Wyden and will not vote for him again.

7. when I called & talked to a staffer, |
|
I told him I was very disappointed in Wyden & his repug liteness. I'm sure I wasn't the only one. I said I knew that a filibuster might not be doable, but I would hope Wyden would vote no on the confirmation at the very least.
Maybe the calls did the trick?

8. I think a filibuster IS doable |
|
and in fact, it holds the key to either a Demcratic victory this fall- or a 7th straight Congressional defeat.
If they don't filibuster this guy- then they'll have set the tone for the year by completely demoralizing the base, looking ineffectual and cowardly- and it'll cut the legs out of online funding from individuals and progressive groups. Republican lite's gotten to the point now that some of us are going to withold support from Wu... and if he runs again (which I don't think he will) Wyden.
If that's not reason enough for the beltway Dems to start taking notice, i don't know what is-

10. Don't they have to get the gang of 14 to agree |
|
to a filibuster? I don't know if they'll be able to get them to join.

9. Wyden is voting no on Alito. |
|
I heard it on Air America on Friday (Smith, on the other hand is being a good German and voting yes along with the rest of his party). All we can do now is urge a Filibuster.
