My Prayers Answered David Reinhard Leaving Oregonian |
|
And one more thing: David Reinhard says thank you, and goodbye by David Reinhard, The Oregonian Sunday November 09, 2008, 4:06 PM A couple of Sundays back I mentioned in a column on our uncivil political discourse that I would be leaving The Oregonian after the election. Some readers believed it was my final column and probably have wondered how they can miss me if I never leave.
David ReinhardToday's column is my last. I'm leaving. I promise. It is an odd thing to walk away from a job you once so longed to have. I wanted to a follow in the line of H.L. Mencken, Red Smith, Murray Kempton, G.K. Chesterton and Malcolm Muggeridge. I wanted to be what St. Augustine once called "a vendor of words." I wanted to be a newspaper columnist in the worst way, and no doubt many readers would say I achieved just that goal early in my career here. But it's time to move on.

GOOD RIDDANCE :woohoo:

1. I actually read that column all the way through |

Reinhard hints that he's going to remain gainfully employed. My guess is he will pop up at some reactionary welfare mill, penning ever more demented screeds as he slips even the febrile tethers that tied him tenuously to reality. Reinhard was always dependable for carrying the worst, most scurrilous RNC blast fax talking points, or reporting breathlessly on the latest "developing" unsourced bullshit from Drudge. I couldn't understand why the Oregonian carried his red crayon scribblings for so long.
Maybe he'll become a special guest commentator on Lars Larson's Daily Hate. It would make it doubly convenient to ignore them both at once.

What will be left to draw out my appreciation of inanity as I read the editorial section?

Check out Blue Oregon for an article about Reinhard's new "career".
Glad he's gone. Now if he could only be forgotten! :applause:

the Oregonian is still only barely good enough to wrap chum salmon in.
remember "If it Matters to Oregonians, It's In the Washington Post."
