List of Waldenbooks Closing in PA
Borders is closing most of their Waldenbooks stores and some of the Borders Express stores. So far, the full size Borders stores are not affected. Here's a list of the ones to be closed:

We have a Borders Express and an B&N here. I really prefer Borders!

2. Ebay and Amazon are Hurting Retail Bookstores
Borders bought Walden's, which turned out to be a bad decision. Mall rents are very high. Their freestanding Borders stores are doing better. However, the company has enormous debt and a couple years ago Barnes and Noble was trying to buy them out.

All book stores are being hurt by a current price way in which Amazon and Walmart are selling some new bestsellers for $10. Those books are supposed to be high profit sources.

Also, many people are reselling their books online as soon as they are finished with them. It is hard for a bookstore to sell a relatively new book for full price if there many copies available at half price or less.
