Rendell has $300 million to spend as WAM

WAM = walking around money to do with as he pleases.

While Rendell cuts money for community libraries and other programs all over the state he wants to to take $10 million to create an Arlen Specter library in Philadelphia.

I'm more than weary of politicians (D or R) who claim to serve the public when they are really serving themselves, and have spent careers living off of other people's money. Even when they reach the end of the line and are cast off by the voters, they still get one last chance to rip us off again and have themselves immortalized. John Murtha is getting the same treatment. Not one politician deserves to have their names on highways or buildings or ships. This honor should be reserved for people who have actually contributed to society as volunteers or as taxpayers, and not to those who have sucked on the teats of taxpayers for decades. They haven't served us, they've taken us to the cleaners.

Rendell wants $300 million of our money to pass around to his many cronies.

1. Everything got cut, except legislature only cut by 1%

It is something how so many important programs suffered severe cuts, while the legislature's budget was only cut by 1%.

I don't know how they can justify the Murtha Center and the Specter Library in this economic situation.

These redevelopment funds are borrowed, and intended to be used for projects that result in long-term jobs growth - such as a convention center, a downtown parking garage to help attract a major employer, etc.
