Son of Flight 427 Victim Runs Against Tim Murphy

"Sept. 8, 1994 is a day that won't ever be forgotten by the Connolly family and many others in the Pittsburgh region.

That's when a USAir flight from Chicago into Pittsburgh dropped from the sky.

For Dan Connolly, it was a terrible personal tragedy.

But it was also an inspiration that led him this year to run for Congress.

At age 26, Connolly is one of the youngest candidates for Congress in America and the Democrat is up against a strong incumbent, Republican Tim Murphy.

But Connolly learned tough challenges early in life.

1. I had a friend on that flight

:-(. I heard Dan on KDKA a couple of weeks ago. Showed a lot of maturity for a 26 year old. I hope he wins. Murphy was so patronizing, it was sickening.

2. I met Dan back in April, just before the primary.

He seems like a very capable young man. Murphy is a jerk, plain and simple.

Oh, I was not impressed by Murphy during that whole exchange on KDKA radio. Marty Griffin is such a tool. Murphy told Dan to do something - go sign up to fight in Afghanistan. I kept waiting for Marty to ask Murphy where he was during the Viet Nam war. He was of age to be drafted.
