Impeachment Resolution being introduced
any RI'ers please try to go to this: let us join the other states who have already adopted this.

Please come and support Carl at a press conference tomorrow, Wednesday, May 3 at 12:30 p.m. in the rotunda of the State House. He will be calling once again on the RI General Assembly to forward an impeachment resolution to the House of Representatives. Vermont, California and Illinois are currently voting on a resolution, while the State Democratic Parties of Nevada, New Mexico, Wisconsin, North Carolina and Vermont have already approved the resolution. It would be a shame if Rhode Island, one of the bluest states in the union, is not the first to pass articles of impeachment for President Bush on to Congress. Your support and attendance will make a difference by sending a loud and clear message to our state elected officials (all of whom are up for re-election this fall) that we want President Bush stopped and all of our troops to come home.

Carl has received some great coverage by the ProJo lately (http://www.carlsheeler.com/the_third_man.asp and http://www.carlsheeler.com/sheeler_v_whitehouse.asp) so we expect good attendance by the media. Despite some potentially gloomy weather, your support for this resolution could reverberate in the 2006 elections. Please call others or forward this message and ask them to addend.

I appreciate your support, it does make a difference.

Sara

1. Excellent!
Keep up the excellent work, Carl. Those of us who have been following your postings on this forum know the truth, that you were pushing this kind of thing long before IL and CA co-opted your idea, not that either state should be criticized for acting on your excellent idea -- if anything, it's the sluggishness of Democratic leaders in the RI state legislature that should be...

2. Thanks. More of the same on May 8. We have our delegates
vote on who is endorsed in our primary races. Fait d'accompli ....

3. If California blocks their impeachment resolution from reaching a vote...
then it's all that more critical that RI proceed.

This story suggests Dems in the California state legislature fear putting the resolution to a vote for fear of losing crucial support from across the aisle. This is much less of an issue in Rhode Island, where Dems enjoy an overwhelming majority in the state legislature, and don't need to fear a Republican backlash nearly as much.
