Question for Charleston DUers: |
|
I am thinking about moving there this year; love the city and the sea islands, always have. But tell me something: how prevalent are police roadblocks and sobriety checkpoints there? It's really bad here in Asheville; we have too many cops with nothing else to do but harass motorists. Almost everyone I know (not me) has had at least one DUI, and these are professional people - bankers, lawyers, teachers.
I spent 8 days down there over the holidays in 2005. In those 8 days I saw maybe FOUR cop cars the entire time. When I came back here I saw more than four between I-26 and my house which is a few blocks away! I am not a drunk or anything like that but it would be nice to be able to go out for the evening and have maybe two beers or glasses of wine. You dare NOT do that here, especially in the Summer!!
So please fill me in. Thanks!

3. It depends upon which area of Charleston you're talking about. |
|
Charleston proper? North Charleston? West Ashley? Mount Pleasant? James Island?
