I don't feel like we can trust Ford
I'm gonna have a hard time voting for him I don't believe he will give his
constituents a second thought once he takes office and he might cause havoc
on the hill. I don't like his stance on Social Security and other issues
he may make us look bad in the long run by being dirty I believe he is out for himself only. how is the rest of Tennessee feeling?

1. Like you I have my doubts..but
One thing I don't doubt is that we will be much better off with Ford, than we would be with any one of the Republicans running...as far as him making us look bad because of his relatives, don't buy into that, Harold was not raised by his uncle. His parents did a much better job....John Ford has been maverick all of his life. He has a lot of supporters here in Putnam County and I am proud to be one of them...now I do have to say I don't always agree with his votes but I let him know how I feel right quick. And if enough of us do that he will listen...at one time he was a Yellow Dog so there is hope...

2. Thank-you for your insight
I really appreciate you sharing your opinion with me. your response was also informative. I have read a not so favorable bio about Ford on the internet.
after reading your reply I realized I didn't check-out the site or who wrote it
however its not so much as what I read its a feeling that I can't dismiss I want to be excited about him wouldn't it be great to really believe in your Senator You said he was once a yellow dog I hope that dog comes out again and shows his teeth against the injustice we have seen with this administration and get the Senate off their you know whats I have never voted Republican in my life but I would consider not voting at all. Saying that makes me wonder what stupid issue the Republicans will have on the ballots in 08 last time they used gay marriage to make sure the Republicans came out to vote thats the genius of Rove that they brag about.
There have been so many wrongs made in the past 5 years that if we do win back
the majority it will take the Dem's first term to right them all. I'm curious if you
have made a wish list and what would be the first thing you would like them to address other then holding people accountable.

4. Things will be worse than ever with a Republican win on that seat.
Let's face it, the three Republicans running for that seat are far worse.

Even Corker, a somewhat reasonable candidate, is in the pockets of the Pilot oil company. Guess where he would stand on energy issues? Environmental issues? Tax cuts for oil companies? etc.

I'd like to have a more progressive Democrat to vote for, but then one of those probably couldn't get elected.

7. The husband and I are planning to vote for Corker in the
GOP primary and hope he wins the nomination for two reasons: He trails Ford the most when the two are matched-up in the polls and, should he win, he's better than Van "Fundie Nut" Hilleary and Ed "NeoCon" Bryant.

We'll, of course, be voting for Ford in the general election.

6. dmr...
"You said he was once a yellow dog"

His whole family was..I keep telling him he best get back to his roots..but I know there is no way he can get elected in TN if he don't stay in the middle of the road...I just hope he dosn't get run over.

The mess this Country is in will take a whole lot longer then a term to fix..

Wish list...I don't see how we can move forward without holding people accountable..Bush and Cheney must be impeached in my book...before we can really move forward..I guess other than that we need to get out of Iraq, I realize there are various oppinions on that but since we went to war under false pretenses we need to end it quick...so as not to go into a long list of things that need fixing I think no student should ever graduate without learning the Constitution inside and out...

We are nolonger the Land of the Free...we are still the Land of the Brave but Democrats in congress must lead the way and make sure all of our rights as citizens are restored....

3. Putnam Co? You're just next door....
I grew up in Cookeville and now live inside Jackson Co. You've probably read some of my LTTE in the H-C and I may have read some of yours!

Steady, now dmr4567... Ford's our guy going into the big one, he needs support. Perfect? Hardly, but better anyday than Corker. I'm hoping that the Ford name recognition won't do too much damage. Corker will appeal to a lot of people, but that blue-blooded accent he has will scare many away. At least Ford is doing good at coming across as relating to regular folks. Chin up, and lets focus on getting a Dem in that seat!

Ford has this county for sure, Clay and Overton are usually with us as well - they are the people hurt the worst by all of the Republican fiascos. Gas prices alone are a major deal for people here. Tippy, if we can get Dennis off his duff in time, maybe we can get Putnam too. They don't like to talk about it because they've been duped by the R's, but people are waking up, even in Cookeville.

5. 4_TN_TITANS.......Dennis?
"Tippy, if we can get Dennis off his duff in time, maybe we can get Putnam too. They don't like to talk about it because they've been duped by the R's, but people are waking up, even in Cookeville."

Putnam is a targeted county in the Ford campaign...As you know while we are losing some campaigns our County Offices are still held by Democrats...I don't like to think we will lose a Judgeship but Patterson, Republican turned Independent is working hard, and I am sure he has the republicans behind him...if he beats Sells well..I am sure more will follow...I was suprised Sells carried all of the other counties...

I am sure I have read some of your letters to the HC..I have not written any lately but plan to do so soon...
