Voting Machines in TN
What is going on with the Voting machines in TN. With so
much at stake, I would hope some Dems would try to keep an
eye on the machines on Tuesday.

1. I really don't know
We in my district still vote on paper. Our ballots are put into a machine but I think that's to just count how many there are. I'm not sure. But we at least vote on paper and all that. My county was going to get the machine's but the election committee voted it down because they're unreliable and cost so much money that could be used for another project or something.

3. Hey, Fly by night. I've meant to respond to your thread about Shelby
Co., but I'll say something here since you asked about Chattanooga (surrounding areas - Hamilton County).

Democracy for Chattanooga had a small group interested in election issues and after a meeting with 2 reps. from our local election commission 1 woman really took up the torch and pressed the commission and the county commissioners on this issue. The result is that the machines from the precincts in the county, along with ALL election materials will be taken to the election commission to be checked before the scanners are downloaded. I know that this isn't perfect, but it is a start.

Hamilton Co. uses paper ballots and optical scanners. There is a team of attorneys and observers gearing up to try to contest anything that looks suspicious. It's scary, and what is in place ain't perfect, but it's what could be done. I'll be holding my breath to see what happens!

And a HUGE thank you for all that you've done!

6. We used touchscreen
I voted on them with no problem, but the elderly voters had a lot of trouble with them. One kept beeping nonstop.

If there is some trickery, I hope the DNC is on top of it.

9. I live Knoxville we had new electronic machines
reminded me of a Etch-a-sketch. You turn a little wheel (with a finger hole just like an old fashioned dial telephone) to select a candidate and then press the enter key to register your choice. Few people seemed to be having any trouble, but of course this part of Tennessee is traditionally ReThug. A number of races had no Democrat running.

Voted touchscreen this AM..(first in line actually!)
and had no trouble. Hung around outside to smoke (away from entrance) for a few minutes, and things appeared to be rolling smoothly
