Anybody have recommendations on ISPs in the Dallas area |
|
Probably not interested in cable or fiberoptics and would prefer a decent DSL to wireless

1. I signed up for and use Clear |
|
when we moved into an apartment a few months back. The apt complex was trying to push Ygnition on us, they must have a contract or something with them but I read really bad things about Ygnition. I did my own research, called Clear, their tech guy came out that night...on a Saturday night, no less, and hooked us up (router, modem, etc...) Haven't had a problem with them at all.

2. Clear is the best - if you don't play a lot of XBOX Live |
|
If you are a "serious" online gamer then you might not be happy with Clear (no facts to back that up, just a feeling I get from talking to their sales staff). It may not be that great for use with a VOIP phone service like Vonage or Lingo. If you are curious about Clear you should call them and get all the info about how well it does with XBOX Live and Vonage before you sign up.
The best thing about Clear is you can get both home internet and for your laptop.
I almost signed up with them but I chickened out because of my online gaming addiction. (only half kidding about that)

3. I've had NetZero DSL since 2005 |
|
I'm really happy with NetZero DSL. My neighbor across the street has AT&T and he's had to come over twice in the past 3 months to use my DSL to send AT&T an email that his service was out! If you're looking for solid DSL, nothing fancy, I recommend NetZero, which I get for $19.95/mo.
