THE PEOPLE'S RESPONSE to the George W. Bush Library & Policy Institute
THE PEOPLE'S RESPONSE to the George W. Bush Library & Policy Institute
Activism

A peaceful, nonviolent march and rally will coincide with and protest the George W. Bush Presidential Center groundbreaking in Dallas on November 16, 2010. Join us for a series of events that will move us toward accountability for the past and democracy for the future!

Accountability is the hallmark of a mature democracy: no one is above the law! Remind past, present and future administrations that the truth cannot be buried or changed, and warn the public that the same ideologues who crafted the Bush policies of the last decade will be writing a script for our future. Will this think-tank develop the same kinds of policies that brought us pre-emptive war, economic crisis, environmental disaster, unprecedented presidential power, and diminished civil and human rights? Act now! History is already repeating itself!

Events are planned in Dallas for November 14 -17, 2010, with the march and rally on the 16th. Join us!

2. You have of course heard he's a plagiarizer
Lifted whole passages from other books. Guy has been a cheater his whole life.

His memoir will be the crowning book in his LIE-brary.
Huffington Post 11/12/10
George Bush Book 'Decision Points' Lifted From Advisers' Books

When Crown Publishing inked a deal with George W. Bush for his memoirs, the publisher knew it wasn't getting Faulkner. But the book, at least, promises "gripping, never-before-heard detail" about the former president's key decisions, offering to bring readers "aboard Air Force One on 9/11, in the hours after America's most devastating attack since Pearl Harbor; at the head of the table in the Situation Room in the moments before launching the war in Iraq," and other undisclosed and weighty locations.

Crown also got a mash-up of worn-out anecdotes from previously published memoirs written by his subordinates, from which Bush lifts quotes word for word, passing them off as his own recollections. He took equal license in lifting from nonfiction books about his presidency or newspaper or magazine articles from the time. Far from shedding light on how the president approached the crucial "decision points" of his presidency, the clip jobs illuminate something shallower and less surprising about Bush's character: He's too lazy to write his own memoir.

5. Yep, they did change the date didn't they? I am so sick and tired...
of having to look at and listen to all the bs about this LIEbrary. I've stopped looking at the local news, and stopped listening to the radio for the entire day.

7. Thanks for the reminder of the bush list of sins
We need to remember the horrible 8 years of the bush presidency disaster. I certainly wish more people remembered it. Somehow the country's voters have selective amnesia about prior presidents.

That a-hole is responsible for the sorry state of affairs our financial system and economy is in. I despise him! :puke:

8. Here is one for the Abramoff section of the LIE bury
Edited on Wed Nov-17-10 07:06 PM by white cloud
The Associated Press

The lawmakers, lobbyists, Bush administration officials, congressional staffers and businessmen caught up in the Jack Abramoff public corruption probe:

---

- Abramoff was sentenced in September 2008 to four years in prison on charges of mail fraud, conspiracy and tax evasion. Since pleading guilty in 2006, the once-powerful lobbyist has cooperated with the federal investigation of influence-peddling in Washington. He was sentenced to a six-year prison sentence in a criminal case out of Florida, where he pleaded guilty in January 2006 to charges of conspiracy, honest services fraud and tax evasion in the purchase of gambling cruise boats. He was released to a halfway house in June 2010 and then home confinement and has been working at a pizzeria.

- David Safavian, the former chief procurement officer in the administration of President George W. Bush, was sentenced in October 2009 to a year in prison after being found guilty in a retrial in December 2008 for lying to investigators about his relationship with Abramoff, who provided gifts in return for information from Safavian about government property the lobbyist wanted to acquire. Safavian's 2006 conviction on similar charges was overturned on appeal. The U.S. Court of Appeals heard arguments in his appeal of his second set convictions on Oct 22.

9. How does Tom DeLay keep escaping justice too?
He's got more Teflon on him than all the BFEE combined.

- Michael Scanlon, a former Abramoff business partner and DeLay aide, pleaded guilty in November 2005 to conspiring to bribe public officials through his lobbying work on behalf of Indian tribes and casino issues. He is cooperating with investigators.

Lets hope Scanlon turns on DeLay.

10. 'Fair Game' and Valerie Plame
Guess they will put this in the WMD Room if they can find it.:evilfrown: :evilfrown:

In his just published presidential memoir, "Decision Points," Bush only mentions Plame and Wilson briefly, and it's in the context of wrestling with whether or not to pardon Scooter Libby (who had been sentenced to 30 months in prison for perjury and other crimes in the subsequent investigation into who within the White House had blown Plame's cover).

Bush says in the book that he had a "sickening feeling" after he learned there actually were no WMDs in Iraq.

The film, which co-stars Sam Sheppard as Plame's father and David Andrews as Libby, features the real Bush, Cheney, and Rove appearing briefly in news footage. It is based on two books: "Fair Game" by Plame, and "The Politics of Truth" by Wilson.

'Mission Accomplished' Banner May Be Unfurled At Bush Library

One of the most enduring symbols of George W. Bush's presidency may soon have a prominent new home.

USA Today reports that the "Mission Accomplished" streamer, which was displayed during a speech in 2003 aboard the USS Lincoln and came to encapsulate the Bush Adminisration's premature announcement of success in Iraq, has been shipped to the future site of George W. Bush's presidential library, and may even be rolled out as an exhibit when the facility opens its doors in 2013.

14. That mission is so hard too
How the hell do we fix an economy and lax financial regulation that caused it, in four years? It took dumb and dumber more than 8 to ruin it. Even those two wars are costing us millions a day and getting us further into debt.

And I doubt the new tea bagging Congress will be of any help either. They won't even extend unemployment benefits before the holidays. They are the most heartless bastards ever!

We should just walk away from them like they were foreclosed homes. Seriously.
