Is anyone in Dallas able to travel the main hwys/tollroads? |
|
Assuming I can get out of my driveway (which is elevated and slopes down to the street, so it is ALWAYS covered with ice when an ice storm hits), I don't know if I'll be able to make it to work on the toll road (assuming I can get there in one piece). I've seen several cars come down my street. I see on TV lots of stalls and accidents on 35 and other highways.
My firm is open today, and some people have shown up to work (I have no idea where those people live, that they can make it downtown to work, no matter what. They were there yesterday, too!)

No ice this far south in Austin, however, I've seen pictures of the Super Bowl arena and adjoining areas looking to be covered in ice.

2. Dallas is reported to be pretty nasty. |
|
my aunt drove from Mesquite to Dallas (635 and 75). She said it was horrible and should have stayed home.
Plus with rolling black outs, electricity will be out off on and all day.
Facebook friends in Dallas reporting continued nasty conditions.

3. Ice - TxDOT never salts BEFORE roads freeze. |
|
Edited on Thu Feb-03-11 11:52 PM by BrightKnight
I have been on 635 at 5am on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. The roads and freeways were all completely iced over. A lot of 635 has cleared but it is still icy and dangerous. I did not venture out today but city streets and parking lots still have a lot of ice.
The sides of the freeway was littered with wreckage.
