I've been trying to call a friend who lives in Austin and keep getting a not in service message (a landline). She lives about 4 miles west of the airport, was wondering if anyone knows if there have been phone outages in the area. Thanks.

There is a strong possibility that she could have evacuated or that the power is out and she is not home. That whole area has been fairly devastated. W-

I'm going to track down some of her family this weekend - they live in Colorado, so not affected by the fire - and see if they have heard from her.
