Question for all those who know about Jim Moran's race |
|
Anyone know much about his opponent, Andy Rosenberg? I'm not getting much from my usual sources, and I was wondering if any of you out there could fill me in on some of his major policies and background records.
Thanks.

Democratic bastillion in Northern Virginia, which is District 8... (where I live)
Moran is strongly anti-war, strongly pro-troops, strongly anti-bush*...he's a life-long left-leaning Democrat, who used to be the Mayor of Alexandria...his brother, Brian Moran, represents Alexandria in the State Legislator....
Moran is a big pain-in-the-ass to bush* and the whole reTHUGlican cabal...they HATE him...and will do anything to destroy him...they got Rosenberg running all around claiming that Moran is an anti-Jew bigot...and THAT's NOT TRUE...that's pretty much Rosenberg's whole platform: seek and destroy Moran....for Rosenberg, there are no other issues in the campaign....
we hope to keep Moran as OUR representative. Rosenberg was clearly put up by the reTHUGlicans to DESTROY Democratic Unity and Leadership and keep Virginia voting for bush*. If Rosenberg wins, he'll show his true reTHUGlican colors....and we'll have even more problems in Virginia...
Moran is a leader in carrying Virginia for JOHN KERRY....
Vote for Moran...give Rosenberg the boot...thanks...

3. I understand that Rosenberg is a lobbyist and has never held office. |
|
He spoke at the 8th district convention recently, and seems like a pleasant fellow, but he said very little of substance and received only polite applause. Moran, in contrast, gave a Dean-like speech and received many loud ovations. It appears to me that Rosenberg does not have much chance of winning the primary, but maybe this isn't a good indicator.
When I look at a list of all Moran's supposed gaffes, "ethical violations" etc., some of which have been debunked, I am mystified as to why he is seen as so objectionable, though I can see he's imperfect. His early anti-abortion stances bug me too, but he's corrected that. This leads me to conclude it's his policies (he was anti-war from the beginning, for example) that have p-o'd the WPost and the Repugs.
