Tim Kaine Inauguration Information-Jan 14/Williamsburg
From email:

On January 14th, I'll have the honor of being the first Governor since Thomas Jefferson in 1779 to celebrate his inauguration in Williamsburg. I hope you'll be there to share the day with me, my fellow state officeholders, and Virginians from across the Commonwealth.

As we look forward to the 400th anniversary of the Jamestown settlement, we have a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the best of our past and on our hopes for the future. That's why we've chosen "The Promise of Virginia" as our inaugural theme.

We're planning some great events for January 13, 14 and 15. You can get the details on our official inaugural website:

http://www.kaineinaugural.com/schedule.php

I'd like to take this opportunity to make a special appeal for folks who would like to take part in the inauguration as volunteers to sign up:

One of the highlights of the celebration with be the inaugural parade on Saturday, January 14th. If you have a group that would like to march in the parade, please read the rules and download a parade entry application here:

Again, I hope you'll join me - we won't just be celebrating an inauguration, we'll be celebrating the opportunity to build on four successful years when, under Governor Mark Warner's leadership, Democrats and Republicans worked together to reform our state budget while making record investments in education, transportation, public safety and Chesapeake Bay cleanup.

Looking forward, we still have much work to do - how to offer pre-kindergarten education to more Virginia kids, how to solve our transportation challenges - but I know that, working together, we'll get the job done.

Yours,

Tim Kaine

2. My hometown was busy in preparation today

And Williamsburg is crawling with security. We counted 63 State Trooper cars in here today! Even ate lunch with about 24 of them--that was strange. :)

My son had a dental appointment this morning. Gov. Kane just happened to be visiting the elementary school only a couple of hundred feet away from our dentist's office, the office staff told us. If I had read the website well enough, I would have known that.

"Reading to Pre-School Students, 9:15am -10:30am Norge Elementary School, 7311 Richmond Road, Williamsburg, Virginia 23188"

As luck would have it, he and his entourage were coming out when we were leaving the dental office. A few waves and yelling "good job" got them to wave back. It's no big deal, but it made us feel good. :)

4. WHRO and most local PBS stations are carrying it too
They're also showing the parade. I'm fighting a cold or I'd be out there in the rain. Wonderful TV.
