We were in Williamsburg today! |
|
The weather was awful but it was still very exciting. We first set up by the reviewing stand on Duke of Gloucester Street but moved to the tent on Market Square. This was brilliant because in a few short minutes it began pouring rain and lots of people flowed into the tent. I think we were better off in many ways than those in the stands.
The crowd in the tent was appropriately respectful when the A.G. and Lt. Gov. were introduced, but was wildly enthusiastic when Kaine was introduced and inaugurated and applauded and cheered a number of times during his speech. We moved to the parade route and saw Governor Kaine (oh does it feel good to type that!) and his family travel by horse-drawn open carriage to the reviewing stand. I waved to him and I'm convinced he recognized me and we exchanged Thumbs-Ups! He used to be my City Councilman and came to nearly all of our inner-city neighborhood association meetings.
He's brilliant and is going to do so much for Virginia. The importance of his victory over Kilgore can NOT be over-stated.
It's a great day for Virginia!!!

I watched the live coverage on a local station (thank you ABC) and I got goosebumps. I can only imagine what it would have been like in person :hi:

2. Excellent! Can't wait to come "home" to Virginia! |
|
I consider myself a native because my dad and majority of my family was born there, and I have lived in VA off and on for over 6 yrs. Currently I am in Cincinnati, and we are leaving to move overseas. We'll maintain a residence in VA. YEA!!!!
And then Mark Warner will come back in 2009 right? (If he doesn't make prez)
VA ROCKS!!
