(VA-02) David Ashe withdraws - Lets go Kellam!
via Raising Kaine

I hear rumors that David Ashe may have pulled out of the Democratic primary race in the 2nd House District. Any truth to this? Please, say it ain’t so (no offense to Phil Kellam, who I’m sure will be a great candidate, I just really like Ashe).

-------

It is confirmed by an insider in the comments section. So, with Ashe out, lets all give Phil Kellam a hand in defeating Thelma *shudder* Drake.

1. Oh MY !
I'm on his volunteer list and nothing's been mentioned on his website

I think finances could be a problem then. VA02's having their first Dem Primary in over 30 years!!! I think 3 dems have thrown their hat in the ring now against Cruela de Drake. Who beat Ashe with her Abramoff/Delay donations, and the Swiftboaters!

He's still on Band of Brothers, was endorsed by Dkos and this thread http://www.raisingkaine.com/1299 had him as Virginia's Hackett

Nothing in the Va-Pilot either....I'll keep my eyes and ears open.

2. Ashe did drop out, going to work for Kaine
"On Monday, Ashe said he made his decision mainly because Gov. Timothy M. Kaine has picked him for a position in the new administration in Richmond. Ashe would not specify what that position is, but he said he has accepted it."
