Who's worth supporting?
Hi,

I'm an Oakton resident and looking to get involved in a worthwhile House or Senate campaign. Is there a good, progressive, ballsy candidate to get behind in Virginia this year? Give me some names and I will see about whether I can help get out the vote :)

Also looking for anyone who lives in the area and what events/activities you do. I don't have a whole lotta friends around here and am looking to meet nice people doing something I care about.

Thanks!

1. Hi Witch!
:hi: Welcome to northern Virginia. I believe Oakton is in the 11th congressional district where GOP goon Tom Davis is facing a relection fight from Ken Longmyer and Andrew Hurst. Longmyer was the 2004 candidate and he didnt break 40% against Davis, who outspent him 24:1. The district is leaning more and more Dem - Bush beat Kerry by only 0.5% in 2004, and Loudon and Prince William County (long GOP strongholds) both chose Kaine over Kilgore. I would suggest looking into Andrew Hurst. He has been tirelessly doing the rounds in the 11th, building support from the ground up. Lots of hand shakes and face to face time with the voters. His is a campaign that can WIN. Check him out at http://www.hurstforcongress.com

Other races that could use your support are Phil Kellam in the 2nd and Webb for Senate. Both are good candidate facing troubled GOP incumbents. For more info, go to the Virginia portion of Campaign Underground - HERE

Thanks for offering your support! :toast:
