GULP! in the Richmond Times-Dispatch this morning
A few weeks ago H.Ross and the idiots warned the Va. Republicans not count any chickens just yet and then today:

The Kerry campaign may have withdrawn paid staff members from Virginia and reassigned them to so-called battlegrounds, but Virginia Democrats still appear more enthusiastic than usual for a presidential race. Kerry signs are popping up in neighborhoods that in previous elections saw few Democratic props.

Although Republicans remain the state's dominant party, in recent years Democrats have done an outstanding job of identifying their voters and getting them to the polls.

Soothsayers give Virginia's electoral votes to George Bush. But a determined - perhaps off-the-radar - Democratic drive could reduce the popular margin. The significance of the national popular vote compels both parties to maximize their turnout everywhere.

1. "Duh" but I still love this editorial that was published in our Richmond
Times Disgust:

Editorial Pages Promote Republicans

Editor, Times-Dispatch: It should not have been a shock to see the entire above-the-fold portion of the Commentary section's front page devoted to George Allen and his cry for a stronger Senate by having more Republicans. Your huge graphic of the Republican elephant in red and blue just added to the effect.

You simply scream partisanship and blatant bias. You don't make any pretense that you present fair coverage that presents both sides of problems and successes. You should consider changing your name to the Richmond Republican Rag.

You owe your readers who want to read both sides and be able to determine for themselves whom to elect an opportunity for a same-size, same-page article and graphic for the Democratic side. To do anything less simply makes a laughingstock of your newspaper. That's called propaganda. Debby Burroughs. chesterfield.

3. Cool! Please tell her I loved her editorial. I agree; the T-D is
ridiculous and a hunk of shit. My husband demanded we cancel our subscription (couldn't stand the editorials); of course, I didn't have a problem with doing so.

4. They can be entertaining to a point
in a very dark sense.

When I first moved to Richmond 10 years ago I couldn't believe what I was reading-WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE?? Apparently there are some around here who agree with THEM :scared:

5. I went to a John Lennon exhibit today at the John Marshall Hotel,
and I had to walk past the T-D building. On behalf of all DU-ers, I gave them the one-finger salute twice (on the walk to the exhibit and back). :kick:
