bush is sooo toast here in VA
I don't know what it is like in the rest of the state, but the enthusiasm here in Alexandria is so high I can't believe it. I've been doing visability the last few days; handing out fliers at the metro stops and waving signs at a major intersection. The pro-kerry responses are large in number, and high in enthusiasm.

So keep up the good work. If we are within 5 or 6 points in the polls come election day, I think we can sneak this one out, just on the enthusiasm of the Kerry supporters.

how is it where you live?

1. My wife keeps getting honks and thumbs up
when she drives around Phoenix with a Kerry bumpersticker. Pretty much daily.

5. Right 52-44 but that was with ONE pro staffer in the state AND
only 47% of eligible voters voting. There were 30 pros here-they pulled 12 out but there is a HUGE volunteer movement. I had to wait 20 minutes last night to get a phone.

Just some facts for ya.

6. Louisa County 90 miles SW of DC
This should be the heart of Bush country.....Kerry/Edwards lawn signs outnumber Bush signs at least 5 to one. I am truly and happily surprised.

7. Oh, no, we're just "pretending"
Grr. The political columnist from the Charlottesville Daily Progress was on our local AM radio talk show this morning, talking politics. An obviously Republican-leaning caller phoned in and asked a question like, "How could the media have portrayed Virginia as a possible swing state?" Gibson replied that the state Democrats had "pretended" that we were, with the implication that this was just campaign tactics.

Well, point of fact is that Zogby and other polls had Kerry close to or within margin of error a few times. I don't think there's any pretense about it. If it was not completely irrational for Red Sox fans to think this was the year for a World Series victory, it's not irrational for VA Dems to think this is our year. Odds may still be long, but it's within the realm of possibility.

8. Way too many bush signs in my area..
I live in the bible thumping, home schooling mountains near Front Royal. I do see some Kerry signs around but not enough to encourage me about this area. I commute to Old Town Alexandria and that allows me to retain my sanity.

14. I Live In Strasburg
And of course it's pretty much the same way here. But I figure if Kerry can take even 40% of the vote here. imagine how it'll look in the rest of the state. If we can pull it out, that just might be enough to make it impossible to steal for *.

15. Hey! Have you worked the Braddock Road metro station?
If so, we've probably chatted or I've given you a thumb's up.:)

But thanks, you've done a great job.

I'm in Jim Moran's district (Alexandria), a very heavy Democratic district. I showed up at the polls (George Mason school) at about 6:00 and had about a 40 minute wait because of the crowds. When I left the line was even longer. Just a heuge voter turnout.

When I voted in 2000, I was in at 6:00 out at 6:10. I mentioned this to a woman in line in front of and said, "I guess this election is important." She said, "That one was too, but we didn't know it then."

I was really encouraged by the turnout.
