VOTER INTIMIDATION REPORTS

Folks,

Albemarle County Democrats have just had word from a credible source that someone is phoning members of one of the local black churches claiming to be with the KKK and apparently suggesting that there will be trouble if they go to the polls.

At the moment this is secondhand and I don't have enough firm details to know how widespread or isolated these reported incidents were. Local officials are going to be working on this and deciding what legal or other steps (like going to the press) may be warranted.

There is a hotline number in Virginia to call to report problems like this to the state Democratic Party for action: 1-800-322-1144. Please be sure to keep this number on hand and refer people to it if you hear about anything like the above.

I would suggest that if you have solid information on similar incidents occurring around the Commonwealth, you post them here, so we can get a sense of what we may be dealing with.
