It's snowing
Looks beautiful against the dark green of the woods. Not sticking yet. It really is too warm for snow.

1. It's pouring down rain here.
Too bad, I was hoping for a little snow today - nothing too inconvenient or anything - just something that would be pretty.

3. 1-2 inches here, much more elsewhere
here being on a hill outside Port Townsend, elsewhere being Bellingham. Snow snow snow snow snow, sometimes a little, sometimes a lot, sometimes small flakes, sometimes large. Pretty it is.

4. Been snowing
Edited on Sun Nov-26-06 06:42 PM by pscot
off and on all day now here on Whidbey. Temperature has dropped about 3 dregees. Barometer is also falling. There's about an inch of snow on the ground. A couple of hours ago a big old barred owl settled down on a fir bough out back, and he's been dozing there ever since. I hope he hangs around. The rats have been acting over-confident lately.

7. Now it's REALLY snowing at our house
It's pretty now, but it'll be a mess on the roads in the morning, I bet.

8. 6 inches here, little crust on top, road are a mess
mrUP went out, thinking roads would be better but says people are slipping and sliding all over. Cats have gone out, trying to walk on crust, breaking through and wanting back in, even without me laughing at them. Chickens are, well, chicken. The ground is gone and there is NO WAY they are going out.

Pretty so long as I can stay home and power stays on (flicker flicker)

9. We were in the San Juans and had about four inches by noon
which was a lot, considering it started about 10:30. We were lucky to make our ferry - my boyfriend's sister started up the hill in the snow, ran into some downed trees, tried to drive back down in reverse, and went into a ditch! She got pulled out, but needless to say, she is still up there. They have a foot now.

It took us something like six and a half hours (including the wait for the ferry and the ferry ride) to get home, with snow the entire way. We had around three inches at our house in Maple Leaf. It was snowing the entire way back, but the worst I saw was when we got through Anacortes to the Deception Pass area. People were sliding off the road all over the place. We were lucky to have a snowplow go through right before we crossed that big bridge, but it was dicey. Nothing serious that I saw though - just people sliding off the road.

10. Snow still falling
Not much accumulation over night. Maybe an inch. But it's starting to pile up now. Fortunately I can sit by my fire and admire the beauty of it all. If you have to be out in it, be careful. Drive safely. Leave yourself plenty of room for escape and avoidance.

13. Thundersnow?
It's snowing here too (south Seattle). When it snowed last night, it didn't stick to the roads around here, but tonight it is. I had to move my car out to the main road (I live on a 1/2 block long dead end street off a 2-block long street that leads to the main road). My driveway is steep, and my steet is steep, as is the 2 block long street, and if the snow gets too bad, I can't get out.

16. You know, thunder + lightning +snow ...
as Louis Black puts it, the sort of stuff if they had it in Biblical times, someone would have written about as soon as he cleaned out his shorts. O.o

17. Update 9:07PM
Snow has stopped here, I think temporarily. What fell has stuck though, at least on the grass and benches, etc. Not on the road though.

Here is a http://www.weatherunderground.com map though:

12. I was downtown about 5:30 watching the traffic
God, people were freaking out, honking, yelling, running red lights. It was like fucking War of the Worlds or something. We humans panic so well.

14. Especially we humans who live in hilly SeattleLand!
The drivers who really piss me off are the SUVers who think they can just go anywhere they want, fast as they want, and that snow and slippery conditions won't affect them. In the meantime, everyone else is diving out of the way of these maniacs!

21. That's insane
It took me two hours to get from downtown to Northgate last night (leaving at 5:30) and let me tell you, there were plenty of People Behaving Badly on my bus. This is new. I remember from other years, people would be cheerful and talkative on the bus when there was bad weather. Now they are all on cell phones complaining to people.

I'm just glad it's warming up so we won't have to scrape ice off anything in the morning.

24. I just tried to drive to work for the first time this week.
I live in a area where I have to go down and up hills to even get to the main road. I was sliding in the slushie wet snow before I even tried to go down the big hill. I turned around and went home. I called in to work and told them I don't know if I will be able to make it in today.

25. It is worse out than I thought.
thought people were being chicken and/or taking advantage of being able to stay home. I called in iced today as did several other people who have been trying to make it to work. Business I share space with is closed today for the first time also. Trees have lost their pretty snow but the roads which had compressed snow turned into ice are still very slippery.

Cabin Fever!!!
