This year, I've decided to start focusing local

Don't worry, I caucused and I will be voting national but I've decided that the vast majority of my time, effort and money will go local. In that vein, I just became a union rep for my hospital unit, am on the bargaining team for our new contract (we go to the table in April. Yikes!) and I might even decide to help out as a grievance officer.

What does that have to do with this forum? Well, each fund drive, I pick out about 5 people on DU who don't have contributor stars but are clearly involved and I donate in their name. So, this year, I'm going local. I've culled some names, but I wanted to give people a chance to let me know if they would like me to donate in their name. Usually, people don't answer this post and that's fine. There's really no need, but in these trying financial times, if there is someone out there who would benefit from a donor star but can't afford it right now, this is the time to let me know. You can email me privately or leave a message here. I'm going to be donating tomorrow and I will be doing it even if we make it to our goal by then. BTW, if you are new to DU, having a donor star opens up a number of features for you and allows you to get rid of some of the ads if you wish.

Lastly, I don't force a star on anyone. I will be sending a private message to each of the folks I've found who don't have a star to make sure they want the star and to ask them if they want the Democratic Underground bumper sticker that comes with it.
