Anybody listen to KPTK am1090 this morning (Monday)? |
|
I got in the car just as the 9:00 news was starting, and when it was over, all of a sudden I heard the call sign for a different radio station. I checked to make sure I hadn't inadvertently changed the setting on my radio, but I hadn't. Next thing I know, Rush Limbaugh's show is starting. WTF??? That went over for a few minutes, then music started playing, and finally, I heard Thom Hartmann's voice.
Very weird. Just wondered if anyone else had heard that.

1. Sometimes Thom plays clips of Limbaugh etc as bumpers coming into a segment |
|
But I doubt that it would go on for minutes.
Wonder what happened?

2. I get bleedover from a conservetive channel quite often |
|
I especially get this later at night after The Mike Malloy Show but it can happen at pretty much any time. Perhaps you were getting a similar station bleedover this morning. I was listening in today too but I started listening after 9:30 AM so I missed the segment of Thom's show you are refering to.

4. I've never gotten bleedover before. |
|
Usually, if KPTK is having problems, I just hear music.

6. Yeah, know that music well |

Unlike TV where the viewer gets some sort of alert to technical difficulties, KPTK settles for this one song. (I've got it as an ear-worm now, thanks)
The bleedover phenomenon may be something to do with the way my stereo is set up. Some nights it is so bad getting anything meaningful from AM-1090 is impossible. I've actually e-mailed and called the station to complain. I ended up being told by an angry station-manager that the problem had to be on my end-that this was not some sort of a plot by the neo-cons to wreck AM-1090's signal! (Well it seemed plausible to me!!!) He pointed out that the part of Tacoma I live in may be in a shadow and/or that I may also have bleedover coming from nearby unshielded electronics. (He wasn't happy when I pointed out that I get a similar phenomenon while driving in my truck). Because I am a supporter of AM1090 (read this as: I've decided it best not to bother that station manager again), I'm chalking my intermittent problem up to sunspots.

5. Sounds like something from a nightmare. |
|
Next thing you know you'll be flipping to Keith Olbermann on MSNBC and see Bill O'Reilly's ugly mug staring back at you. :scared:
As for AM 1090, I've had no luck getting a decent reception, despite living in downtown Bellevue. Internet radio only for me--though I do miss the warmth of the analog signal.
