Information needed. Family may be transferred from Calif. to Cherry Point Washington.. |
|
My sister just received this possible transfer notification and would love to know what the area is like, availability of rental housing, any other relevant information about the area. I told her that she must join DU in order to chat with you but any initial information would be a great help. They just moved from one house to another because the house they were living in was put on the market by the owner. Now they have a lease on another rental and just received a notification that my BIL may be transferred to Cherry Point, Washington. Miserable timing with a brand new lease.
Any info or sites with info would be appreciated.
Plus,--as a bonus---, a new DU member!

It's fabulous up there IMO....Very close to Vancouver and a hop a skip to Bellingham. They should have no problems finding a rental. Check craigslist for Bellingham for a general idea of what's available for housing. Birch Bay is a big retirement area but that's probably the closest community to check out.

They should find reasonable accommodations in that particular neck of the woods as was already said. About three hours from Seattle.
Feel free to contact me by pm if there is anything in particular you need to know .
How goes the upkeep back at your house and how did you hold up through the storm ?

Thanks for remembering about my various house projects. The storm was one of the worst I have ever seen. We had no damage but I am still pumping out the cellar. Have dual pumps and they don't seem to be slowing down.
I live at the base of a hill and the water comes up from the ground, I assume it follows some underground channel and when we get a big storm, it is days before the water that is within the ground to follow down and out. Unfortunately, my neighbor and I get the brunt of it. This old house has a packed dirt cellar, that part is not the problem. The water comes up through a few week points in the foundation and through the pump bottoms. What a pain. I imaging this will be over in a few more days. Our whole town is built on ledge, I'm not the only one still pumping.
Thanks for your offer of information. I may take advantage of it as my sister finds out more about what in going on. As to the upkeep, it continues and I'm getting a little lazy about keeping up.
