Threats but no arrests yet at Occupy Seattle

With their dustpans and trash bags in hand, dozens of Occupy Seattle protesters picked up trash and temporarily cleared out their encampment at Westlake Park on Tuesday morning for a city-mandated cleanup.

Dressed in plastic ponchos and layers of clothes — one man with bare feet — protesters rubbed their eyes and complained that they had no sleep the night before because Seattle police officers tasked with keeping an eye on them shined spotlights on them and wouldn't let them sleep under awnings to keep out of the rain.

More than a dozen officers and a handful of Seattle Parks employees stood by Tuesday, watching to make sure protesters followed through with the mandatory daily cleanup.

While word spread late Monday that Occupy Seattle protesters had to leave Westlake Park when it closed at 10 p.m. or face arrest, nobody was arrested on Monday night, Seattle police said Tuesday ...
