SNAP OUT OF IT!

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2003131832_washtucna17m.html

WASHTUCNA, Adams County — It's almost lunchtime at Les Snyder's farmhouse, and the conversation winds through the usual topics. The high-school football team needs just one more victory to break the all-time state win-streak record. Fuel and fertilizer costs just keep going up.

And, inevitably, Iraq. Sure, things are bad over there, Snyder says, but not nearly as bad as the media paint it.

"All they print is the bad stuff," says the 84-year-old Snyder, waving hands gnarled by a lifetime of farming. "Thousands of people over there have gotten drinking water that never had it before."

2. God, that looks like a horrible place.
If I were from there, I'd get the hell out as soon as I could.

3. "King County controls everything anyway"......BARF
King County pays for everything, too, including the roads that go to and from their little Bush-loving enclave.

4. Such as life in the big city goes.
Have an apple Lisa M. It,s good for the soul. You know Lisa M. in New York sometimes people say all the money goes to New York City.

And that New york city does not define New York state.

Some people say it,s the apples and the export of that is the reason for the roads, not the locality.

New York city is considering casting out it,s title of The Big Apple. The intire western end of New York state is apple country.
And yet there are people in New york city that have no idea that you can grow apples in New York city too,- given there is any natural ground left there for growing things.

You know such people really have no idea what the rest of New york state even is. And do you know that there are those of them that think everything in the world is in New York city. How little do they know.

I think our governor is working to shore up these differences here in Washington state.

So indeed Lisa M. do have an apple, think about how far Washington stretches. The beauti of it goes far you know. Much farther than the thought of taxs.

6. I travel all over the state, and spend money all over it, too
I've been to the Palouse, I go to Bellingham, I go to the San Juans, I travel all over to enjoy the whole state. I also don't begrudge them tax revenue and I think there should be a state income tax. I support Washington-based businesses whenever possible.

I like small towns (I'm from one, though not in Washington). I don't like small minds. And I get tired of people outstate complaining about Seattle and King County.

8. Oh, it's so easy to bait me
I got in an argument with a bitchy lady at a rest stop last night. They locked off the pet area at the Smokey Point rest stop (I guess there was homosexual assignations going on in the woods there) but the sign that says Pet Area is still there. We were giving our dogs a little walk near the picnic tables - first my boyfriend had them while I was in the restroom, then we switched. Of course, she starts yelling at ME (she didn't say a word to him) about cleaning up after them (they weren't doing anything) and how she didn't want to step in anything, and go to the Pet Area and I kept yelling back that the Pet Area was closed! she wouldn't listen! Finally I turned away, but then my boyfriend came back and got all upset at me for getting in a fight. Grrrr. So yeah, easy target here.

9. Off the old rocker max?
Edited on Tue Jul-18-06 01:32 PM by Wash. state Desk Jet
Here is the point, throwing stones doesn,t help. People in Eastern Washington seem to think Seattle get,s all the money. And sometimes it may seem so.

If I,am off my rocker hay, fine. But ah, the way I hear it told ,most of (US) are somewhat, and that will include you maxsolomon ,like it love it.

The difference here max is that what I do makes things better for people,-can you say the same thing?

Sometimes seeking the truth comes at a cost.
It might surprise you to know how many people you come into contact with are as you say-off their rockers really. But are they? It is easy to blend in with the established norm. Too easy .And too easy to become blinded by it. Being off the old rocker just may be the understanding that there is more to the world than meets the eye. Have you been around the world max?

Most professionals I come into contact with that are no less than brilliant in the things that they do professionally and otherwise do indeed openly claim to be off their rockers!

It may be the key to seeking and finding truth.

Or perhaps the world as many see it, is just too dull.

And by the way max, do you know how farming and government goes? I mean do you know how it works? The parts about the farmers being instructed on what to grow and what not to grow and being paid not to grow,or grow. Indeed David Stockman. You know he was the son of a farmer, his father once said that he really didn,t know where the David Stockman came from ,or comes from, but one thing he did know, he never was a farmer. Stockman ,if you don,t know was the budget director for Ronald R. By the way is this thing on. Read what he has to say, there you may find what you think,or what ever you think.

10. yes i have "been around the world"
say no more say no more nudge nudge wink wink. like anita hill, i am "a little bit nutty & a little bit slutty".

i like you WSDJ, but half the time i can barely figure out what you're trying to write!

E Washington has their paranoid heads up their asses - unable to see that they are, in fact, recipients of government subsidies paid for by King County's citizens. they are conservative in the original sense - afraid to embrace change, wanting to maintain the status quo. but if this planet is to survive, change is coming. those dams HAVE to come down if we're going to continue to eat salmon.

and yes, i can say the same thing - what i do makes things better for people.

11. Thanks Max !
You see max I have alway had the tendency to talk on and on, to some seeming to make no sense or making sense though hard to fallow.

In my line of work , much of it doesn,t make sense until it does to the client.

In the end result, I make sure the client has a good understanding of what took place.

And in the end result it makes sense.

No question to my mind you are an intellgent being.
Being well traveled is an asset ,is it not?
