Investigators have 'persons of interest' in Pinnacle trail murders
The Snohomish County Sheriff's Office said this morning investigators have "persons of interest" in the Pinnacle Lake trail murders.

Deputies are investigating the murders of Seattle hikers Mary Cooper, 56, and her daughter, Susanna Stodden, 27. On July 11, a hiker found their bodies on the two-mile trail in Snohomish County, shocking thousands in the Seattle region and the nation. The Sheriff's Office has said the mother and daughter had been shot.

At a morning press conference, Deputy Rich Niebusch would not identify those who might be the focus of the investigation, or even say how many people are "of interest" in the continuing probe. He declined to answer whether they were from the region or from out of state.

He said investigators have received over 225 tips, and that every one of them would be pursued.

2. Did you ever get a gun? I am still thinking about it, especially after
the pit bull kills elderly woman thread. I hope we find out who killed these women and why really soon. Not going to stop me from hiking though, and from the looks of Spray Park last Sunday, it's not stopping anybody else either!

3. my family hasn't let me go hiking yet this summer
There seem to be lots of things happening on the trails this year: two missing from Staircase, one fall at Rainer, the shooting at Pinnacle...I am getting lots of grief for wanting to go hiking.

6. 1 missing in Olympics. Go hiking, but with a group.
we frequently get people missing, but this one hasn't shown up yet. Could be cougar or bear or fell off something, but still is bothersome.
