I-91 (blocks city subsidy of Sonics arena) qualifies for Nov. ballot
An initiative that aims to block city politicians from subsidizing a new Sonics arena with tax dollars has qualified for the fall ballot.

King County officials said Thursday that proponents of Initiative 91 had collected at least the minimum 17,968 signatures needed.

That leaves the City Council two options: enact the measure themselves or put it on the November ballot.

I-91 would require that the city may only contribute to arena costs as long as it earns a profit from that investment on par with a 30-year treasury bond.
