Thumbs down ... to the "cyber-squatter"
" who hijacked Rep. Shelley Moore Capito's name for a Web site that directed surfers to Sen. Robert C. Byrd's Web site instead.

1. Smelly Moore URL
To be more accurate, someone other than Capito registered the URL www.capito2006.com. Smelly registered capito2002 and capito2004 in her respective campaigns, but was too stupid to register capito2006 before someone else legally beat her to it.

If I had been the one doing this, I would not have involved Senator Byrd by initially redirecting people to his web site. But that has now been corrected, and you can keep up on the latest about Smelly at http://capito2006.com/ I can't tell for sure, but I think the site is being run by a Democrat.

For more on the issue, go to http://modernamerica.blogspot.com/ and scroll down to two articles: "Gazette weighs in on Captio2006.com story" and "Capito2006....Is there a motive?"

In a pure world, I guess you would have a point about this being questionable. But this is not a pure world.

Smelly Moore Capito has been a beneficiary of crooked tricks, much more than she has been disadvantaged by them. How about all that dirty Tom DeLay PAC money she's received? How about her father, the convicted felon, who sold out the poor Buffalo Creek survivors (and the rest of us West Virginians) to Pittston Coal Company?

How about her sister, who was busted for selling cocaine in Charleston? Don't tell me she shouldn't be judged by what the rest of her family does, because she shure isn't shy about throwing around the family name, is she?

2. I never new what a scum bag Arch was
There is a link on the Capito blog to a Buffalo Creek site that tells about all the promises Gov. Moore made to the survivors that he never kept. Then he sold them out to his buddies at Pittson Coal. What a low life he was.

3. Buffalo Creek
I was there, as a Verizon (Bell System) cable splicer, during the recovery. I worked such long hours I was not able to keep up with the news, or anything else. But I do remember that Governor Moore moved in very quickly to call the disaster "...an act of God", with an obvious intention of excusing Pittston of any accountability. That was before anybody had looked at any aspect of the the collapse of Pittston's dam.

I can't understand how anyone could betray those survivors like this, while the bodies of their families were still being dug from the mud. To this day, Moore remains quite unrepentant. He recently tried to get his law license back, essentially saying he was tricked into pleading guilty to his felony convictions.

Shelly is worse than unrepentant about her father's crimes. She has never offered any apology or regret. Quite the contrary; you always see her name as Shelly MOORE Capito, capitalizing on her father's name recognition. She is obviously proud of this heritage.

And Republicans want to replace Senator Byrd with this person. That just makes me sick.
