Americans tired of whining from the left
Outsiders often see a place more clearly than the inhabitants themselves. Twelve years ago, the Australian art critic Robert Hughes wrote a searing, witty and uncomfortably accurate book about America. It’s called “The Culture of Complaint.”

Hughes doesn’t distinguish much between right and left; he argues that the entire nation has embraced victimhood as its highest state and developed a communal ethos in which the idea of rights has been replaced with the effort not to hurt anyone’s feelings.

You can see this at work in many of the great struggles from union organizing to civil rights to feminism. And I believe it has a lot to do with the demise of liberalism and the current sad state of the Democratic Party.

free enterprise, etc. Yes, the Dems can do better.. but The Republicans will never (in my case, anyway) be a 'more attractive alternative'. The author appears to be a Dem, BTW.. he's just making a point.

".... just want to get on with their lives. For better or worse, the Republicans present a more attractive alternative: a friendly, upbeat president who at least looks like he’s having a good time."

3. Democrats whining?
Republicans invented whining! They whined, complained, and accused when they were in the minority, and they can't stop doing it even though they control the Executive, Judicial, and Legislative branches of our federal government.

Just listen to talk radio or watch talk TV and you will see who the whiners are. For years I've wished that Democrats would fight back instead of laying down and taking it in these forums.
